LIA TOYOTA FULLY PREPARED TO "REFRESH" PRIUS SOFTWARE: LATEST RECALL A QUICK FIX
In what is becoming a clean sweep effort to address driver concerns across its vehicle fleet, Toyota Motor Sales USA has announced its decision for a voluntary recall of its Prius hybrid to address customers' concerns about an "inconsistent brake feel" on 2010 models.
"This Prius recall involves a fairly simple software update pertaining to the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)," explained Lia Toyota of Colonie general manager Eric Rosen. "Prius customers can expect it to take about an hour, and we're fully prepared to address this software refresh immediately."
According to Toyota's website today, it has already put in motion a running production change that "improv[es] the ABS system's response time, as well as the system's overall sensitivity to tire slippage." The software update is already available at Lia Toyota, and Rosen advises any 2010 Prius owners to set up an appointment now, rather than wait for notification by Toyota Motor Sales.
"We are absolutely committed to addressing our customers' needs, and have fully mobilized our staff to implement any and all necessary updates or repairs as part of Toyota's top-to-bottom review of safety and reliability," said Lia Auto Group President Michael Lia. Lia Toyota of Colonie Service is open seven days a week: Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Service hours will be expanded as needed, and technicians will be working around the clock. An inspection to identify if a vehicle is involved in the recall is free and takes only a few minutes. |
